About Us

Helen Y. Stough Magnet Elementary School was originally built in 1968 and was rebuilt on the original location in August 2020. The school is named after a lifelong educator and Raleigh City Schools Board of Education member. Stough is a Mandarin Chinese-themed school that has approximately 534 students in grades preK-5. It boasts the only Mandarin Immersion program in Wake County Public Schools. It is located in the heart of Raleigh near the Crabtree Valley shopping, dining, and entertainment area.

The school is bordered by beautiful parks, including Laurel Hills, as well as supportive corporate partners from the Highwoods Business Park center. The curriculum at Stough emphasizes focused lessons that are aligned to the North Carolina Common Core. A variety of assessments are used to differentiate the instruction of content, skills, materials, and activities for all students.
